WELCOME

MY CONFEDERATE BROTHERS

AND EVEN.... YOU YANKS

-----------------
Hello, my name is Bill, and I'm with the 154th Tennessee. That's a Civil War Re-Enactment unit. I will tell you more about it later. Yep... Thats me!

This picture was taken by Bob Brauner, August 29th, 1998, at the Jackson, Michigan Encampment. More about Bob later as well.

But for now, let me tell you a bit more about the history of the 154th Tennessee Senior Volunteers.

It started, or was formed, in the early 1840's as a State Militia Unit. When the American Civil War broke out, and Tennessee seceded from the Union, all Tennessee Militia Units became a part of the Confederate Army. The 154th, being the eldest, was designated "Senior". Thus becoming, "154th Senior Tennessee Volunteer Infantry". At some time during the war, the unit became part of General Benjaman F. Cheatham's Division, of the Army of Tennessee. I found this picture of Gen. Cheatham in the Library of Congress.

While in State Service the regiment servred in the Provisional Army of Tennessee. Upon being mustered into Confederate Service, the unit joined the Western Department. Not long after it was placed in the Army of the Mississippi. The name of this Army was subsequently changed to the Army of Tennessee. The regiment served in that Army for the remainder of its career.

Within the framework of the following Battles, Sieges, and Campaigns involving the 154th, were many Skirmishes. As I find evidence of them I will add them in proper order.

1. Belmont, Missouri (November, 7th, 1862)

Unofficial reports show that eight hundred and two officers and enlisted men were mustered into Confederate service as members of the 154th. When it surrendered as part of the Second Tenessee Consolidated Infantry it contained fewer than fifty members.
